Technology in the Upper Elementary Classroom

Participants will be exposed to many options on how to incorporate technology in the upper elementary classroom. Many of the options utilize Google Classroom, but it is not necessary to be familiar with it in order to understand the assignments. Examples will include Google Suite and digital breakout rooms.

Grantwriting 101

Teachers who learn about a unique and innovative lesson, project or activity and want to implement it into their classroom are confronted with a choice: either ask administration for financial support or fund the activity out of their own pocket. This presentation provides a third option - to assist teachers in securing funds through grant writing - identifying grant opportunities and tips for writing a successful grant proposal. Teachers will develop a draft of a proposal for a future lesson.

Inquiry + Applets = Magic

We will learn about the Inquiry Based Learning Model and discuss how thoughtful questioning and guided exploration and experimentation can inspire deep thinking in your math classroom. Then we will explore some applets from various websites that encourage authentic inquiry and active learning, including GeoGebra and Desmos. Lastly, we will find and/or edit applets and questions specific to our own students' needs.
